Richard, cool groove on this track. I loved the vocal, the melody, the lyrical sentiment, the arrangement, the groove and the production. This song reminds me of a band, Player and they had the hit "Baby Come Back". Somehow this song gives me that vibe. It has that sassy clean pop shuffle, with a bluesy pop melody floating over the pocket and it's tied off with a repetitive melodic hook line. The style is difficult to categorize, it fits an older audience, 50 or something, as the flavor of the track and the music lends itself towards that. It's an easy listening pop blues song, that easily could be used as a soundtrack.

The melody is good, moves on top of the verse groove and lifts and repeats in the chorus / hook section. It has a cool hooky chorus, it's a little on the sweet side, but, it's hooky regardless. There was some lyrical and melodic conflict for space, it was minor, but still it detracted from the presentation of the song.

The overall track has a cool groove. The guitar parts were stellar and good use of the sax on the track. I noticed the overall track was ddistorted and don't know if it's the mastering or the mix.

Thanks for the listen and good luck.

STYLE

A medium tempo blues shuffle, somewhere in the vein of Boz Scaggs meets Jimmy Buffet .

MELODY

You created a cool, poppy verse melody. It moves naturally into the chorus / hook section. The melody on the hook has a vintage 50's vibe with the line repeating. It's here that the lyric rubs the melody for the meter. It's a little awkward.

STRUCTURE

The structure is solid, varies, contrasts and is cohesive. I would have created a bridge, either as a solo section, or another lyrical section. I dug the clever turnaround and build on the last chorus section.

LYRIC

You convey a simple emotion and sentiment in the lyric. It's well supported in the hook line. You might have given the listener a little more lyrical imagery or story line in the lyric. How about creating another dimension to the emotion of the song? Was the gal so stunning and gorgeous that you couldn't let go? What was it that keeps you sticking around. You might want to inject an additional theme into the song.

TITLE

It's a simple yet effective title. It was used properly as the song's hook and lyrical cornerstone.
