KNEW YOU AT ALL

Richard, nice up vibe on the track. I loved the vocal, the lyrical sentiment, the melody, the groove, the arrangement and the production. The song has a unique feel to it, in that it's not country per se and it's not Adult pop. It has an easy listening vibe, somewhere between soft jazz, alternative folk and country. If the song is to be categorized, it would be tough, because it falls through the cracks.

The song has a good melody foundation, with a hooky lyric and melody line as the hook. Lyrically, you have a sentiment and a clever spin and you convey an emotion but you might try creating a little stronger lyrical pull with a stronger story line in the song.

The track has a cool, up beat R&B groove to it. The guitar player is a BAD MF & sounds it on this track. It was clever to use the harmonica on the track, it gave the song a rootsy country feel to it. Good work.

Thanks for the listen and good luck.

STYLE

An adult contemporary medium tempo country pop song. The style is in an older easy listening pop format ala Jim Photoglo.

MELODY

A good verses section melody and clever use of the pre chorus as a lift into the chorus / hook section. There were spots in the melody that were being pushed by the lyric, i.e. "Starting out from the lies..." You might try ironing out those spots to give the melody some space to groove.

STRUCTURE

You have solid secttions, cool verses and chorus sections. It's a pretty straight ahead arrangement, you might have created a bridge for a release after the solo section. Also, you might try editing the first vocal tag of "At All..." and get back to the verses sooner.

LYRIC

You present a classic sentiment in the lyric of a man scorned by a woman. You added a clever lyrical spin in the line "There's a calmness now inside me and I owe my thanks to you". That's a pretty spiritual turnaround in this type of song, but, it's cool regardless. You expressed the emotion and feel in the lyric, but you might consider adding some sort of story line spin in the lyric. You want to give the listener a story to take them through the emotional journey.

TITLE

It's a good pop / country title and it's used effectively as the songs hook and lyrical keystone.
