Richard,
Sounds like a kind of AC ballad, that talks about the trials of a relationship and what it takes to make it work long term. Solid vocal arrangement, though, I don't know where this would fit in, in terms of a radio environment. While I typically don't mind a sax involved in a song, having it take an individual solo in a kind of syrupy kind of way, makes the song sound less contemporary. You don't really hear that kind of approach on contemporary radio these days and if you do, it's on a new romantic song from one of the Brit bands of the 80's.
Overall, however, it's a structurally sound song, with solid performances vocally and instrumentally. Background vocal arrangement helps to bring up the chorus to a level that allows it to stand out.
STYLE
Kind of a blend of AC / Country, with a full background vocal arrangement during chorus and sax melody in background
MELODY
Familiar sounding melody that you'd expect with these chord changes and at this ballad tempo. A lot of the melody has to do with the chord changes, which also sound quite familiar. Sax provides a counter melody, also has a lyrical solo in the middle of the track.
STRUCTURE
Traditional type ballad verse / chorus type structure, with an instrumental break that allows the sax to take a solo.
LYRIC
I'm sure anyone who's been in a relationship or has been married for a while, knows what this song is about. In that sense, it's a good choice for material in that many people in this age demographic would understand the dynamic. Alternatively, since it is such a familiar subject and one that does have a familiar sounding title, "Don't Let My Heart Know", it might not give off the kind of listener interest that you might be looking for.
TITLE
"Don't Let My Heart Know", sounds like a familiar title though this track does seem to have it's own take on it.
